Sound Healing For The Sacral Chakra

Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.

What is the sacral chakra?

The Sanskrit word for the sacral chakra is Swadhisthana and can be translated to “the dwelling place of the self”. The color of the second chakra is orange and the element associated with the sacral chakra is water. The sacral chakra is located just below the naval and is focused on relationships with oneself as well as others. The second chakra regulates how you are emotionally responding to the world around you, and your ability to express and regulate emotional responses in a healthy way.

Physically it is closely connected with our reproductive organs and it governs your sexual drives and creative powers. Other body parts that relate to the sacral chakra are the lower gut, bladder, kidneys and circulatory system.

A healthy sacral chakra will make you feel that you are accepting the changes happening in your life, in an open and welcoming way. You understand that all changes entering your life are there for the sake of your growth and that change is a fundamental movement of life. You create your life with passion, drive and abundant creativity. You feel in touch with your sexual nature, and freely express it in a healthy way. This includes placing healthy boundaries for yourself.

How can the sacral chakra be restored into balance through sound?

Sound healing for the sacral chakra is a therapeutic method that uses sound vibration to harmonize the sacral chakra back into balance. Read more about how sound healing works and why it works here. During a sound healing session you or the sound healer can use different sound vibrations from instruments, frequencies, vowels, mantras, and/or natural sounds such as water to restore balance to the sacral chakra. Let us have a look at each and one of them.

  • Key: D
  • Instruments: Flutes, Clarinets, Bassoon, Saxophone, bagpipe
  • Frequencies: Solfeggio Frequency 417 Hz & 480 Hz
  • Seed mantra: VAM
  • Vowel: OO (ew), as in you

Healing the sacral chakra with instruments

The musical note or key that resonates with the Sacral chakra is D.

This means that singing bowls, tuning forks, chakra drums, didgeridoo, gongs, or any other instruments tuned in the key of D will be in harmonic resonance with the sacral chakra and have the power to restore it back into balance and health.

Other instruments that are connected with the sacral chakra are wind instruments such as flutes, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone and bagpipe.

If you do not play these instruments yourself, or participate in sound healing therapy, find a song in your playlist that you like that has these wind instruments in them. As you listen to music that these instruments are making, tune into your body, especially your lower stomach. Feel how your body and emotions are responding to the music. Notice if there is any tightness or tension in your body and lower belly. Allow whatever feeling that comes up be witnessed. Feel into what is there without running away. Just hold yourself through whatever may arise to the surface. Allow yourself to cry, scream, laugh or sing if that is what you need.

After your emotions have been identified and felt, a good way to release and transform emotions further is through movement. Dance, shake and allow your body to move in a way that comes naturally as you listen to the sound of these instruments.

Healing the sacral chakra with frequencies:

When we use a specific frequency to heal the sacral chakra, we use frequencies that are in harmonic resonance with the subtle energy system of the sacral chakra, and it causes the sacral chakra to vibrate at the same frequency as the soundwave of the external frequency.

The 417 Hz in the Solfeggio Scale is one of the frequencies that are in harmonic resonance with the sacral chakra. Another frequency is 480 Hz. Read more about how frequency healing on the chakras work here.

417 Hz (RE) – Undoing situations and facilitating change

417 Hz is associated with undoing situations and facilitating change. This frequency can clear the destructive influences from past events and will energize the body, helping to revive your creative potential.
The tone will help us to relate to our own emotions, as well as the emotions of those around us. When listening to this frequency it will assist the sacral chakra in being restored into balance, and allow the listener to enhance their creativity and sexual energy.

480 Hz is another frequency that is in harmonic resonance with the sacral chakra. This is due to the color associated with the sacral chakra. We know that color and sound are frequencies perceived by different senses in our body, but it is initially the same thing relative to our perception. Orange is the color of the sacral chakra, and the wavelength interval of orange is 635-590 nm. When we translate that into a frequency interval of sound it turns into 480-510 THz. When testing this on the chakra system, 480 Hz turned out to be the frequency in harmonic resonance with the sacral chakra.

Healing the sacral chakra with nature sounds:

The element associated with the sacral chakra is water. Listening to the sounds of water will have a soothing, healing and restorative effect on the sacral chakra. You can either play music with sounds of water incorporated, or you can go outside into mother nature and listen. Sit down by a stream of water, the ocean or a waterfall and feel how the water is cleansing your emotional body. For better healing effect, submerge yourself in the water by either going for a swim or simply stay still with your feet into the water. Visualize how the energy of the water flows through you, purifying your emotional body and cleansing out all dense energy.

Healing the sacral chakra with seed mantra or vowel

You can listen to mantras or vowels being sung, or you can use your own voice to balance your sacral chakra. In the east the sound of the chakras is associated with their Beeja or seed mantras. A seed mantra is a one word mantra used to strengthen the energy of the sacral chakra. The seed syllable used for the sacral chakra is VAM.

When you chant the word VAM, pronounce it as VUHM. You can chant a basic vedic mantra for the sacral chakra using the syllable “Om Vam Namaha ”. This translates to “I give honor to the energy of the sacral chakra”.

In the western world each chakra is associated with a vowel. You can chant the vowel as a single tone, or you can sing it using a scale or simple melody to make it easier to repeat it over time. Sing the vowel OO (EW as in you) to give strength and balance to the sacral chakra.

Conclusion

Ultimately, life is a symphony and our body is the instrument we use to play along with life. We are musical beings, and our challenge is to master our instrument. When we have tuned our instrument to the harmonic resonance of life, life becomes the most beautiful song.

There is a symbiotic relationship between light, color, frequency, sound and the chakras in our body and our consciousness. As the great genius nikola tesla said:

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”

We now know that our chakra system is our body’s intelligence of processing energy, frequency and vibration. When we learn to master our chakra system, we are more attuned to understand the secrets of the universe.
There are many different sounds techniques you can use to restore balance to your sacral chakra, and again your overall health. It is also important to note that every individual is unique, and not one technique, sound or modality works for everyone. The best way to figure out what works best for you or your client is to listen to the body and feel the changes invoked through sound. Do more of what works, and do less of what does not work.
