All the principles of heaven and earth are living inside you. Life itself is truth, and this will never change. Everything in heaven and earth breathes. Breath is the thread that ties creation together.
Morihei Ueshiba
What Is The Throat Chakra?
The Sanskrit word for the throat chakra is Vishuddha and means “place of purity/purification”. The throat chakra is the chakra of communication and your ability to understand and speak your inner truth “purely”. This chakra is the first of the higher chakras and it works on a spiritual plane of your being. It is also a bridge between your emotions and intellect. It governs your experience of expressing your raw and vulnerable truth, feelings and ideas and your ability to truly listen to others.
A balanced throat chakra will assist you to be understanding of others and being understood. It promotes openness, communication and confidence. This chakra allows us to have a clear and honest communication with our physical and spiritual world. How are you communicating with yourself and the world around you?
The color of the fifth chakra is blue, and the element associated with the throat chakra is akasha (aether/sound). The throat chakra is located at the neck. Try to think of the throat chakra like a bridge, because it has a physical placement on your neck where the body becomes slimmer and must focus all its energy on bringing information up to the brain, and information from the brain to every other part of the body.
Physically the throat chakra is connected with the thyroid and parathyroid gland. These glands have the responsibility of producing hormones for growth and calcium metabolism. The throat chakra is also tied up with the way the ears, nose, tongue and throat are in correlation with the senses of hearing and speech.
This chakra also works intimately with the sacral chakra. The Sacral chakra is the chakra for creative energy and feelings, while the throat chakra allows you to express those creative ideas and feelings. If there are any blockages in your throat chakra you might have difficulties expressing your
creative energy and feelings in a healthy way. A blockage in the throat may also manifest as a lot of inner criticism, or speaking harshly towards others. Read more below for more symptoms of a blocked throat chakra.

In the following article we will have a closer look at each and one of them.

Healing The Throat Chakra With Instruments
The musical note or key that resonates with the throat chakra is G.
Singing bowls, tuning forks, gong or other instruments tuned in the musical note G will be in harmonic resonance with the throat chakra, and therefore have the ability to restore the throat chakra back into balance.
There are different instruments associated with the throat chakra. Being the chakra responsible for sound, speech, and expression of emotions, it is no wonder that this chakra is energized by flutes and other wind instruments, as these instruments are highly expressive. Different horn instruments will also have a strengthening effect on the throat chakra. Horns sends a clear tone that is adjusted by the breath and mouth position of the musician. Historically horn instruments have been used for announcing messages, and important events, making these instruments connected symbolically to speech and communication.
If you do not play these instruments yourself, or participate in sound healing therapy, find a song in your playlist that you like that has these instruments in them.
As you listen to songs containing flute or horn, tune into your body, especially your throat and throat chakra area. Feel how your body and emotions are responding to the music you are listening to. Notice if there is any tension or tightness in your throat. Just be with that sensation for a moment and allow what is there to be witnessed. Feel into the sensations without trying to fix it. Just hold yourself through that which arises to the surface.
After witnessing your sensations, allow yourself to express what is there in a way that is authentic for you in the moment. That may be singing, crying, screaming, shaking, dancing, laughing or it may be something that needs to be said out loud. Be brave, and release the unspoken, untold, uncried
and unmoved. Be there for yourself with love and compassion as you release and let go.
After the unidentified within you have been identified and felt, a good way to release and transform the energy further is through breath and movement. You can do a lion’s breath as you listen, as this exercise is believed to be beneficial for throat chakra clearing. Youtube has several videos that show how you may perform a lion breath exercise.

Healing The Throat Chakra With Frequencies:
In the universe there are two primary elements of vibration which are sound and color. Each chakra is associated with a unique combination of these two primary elements. The throat chakra is associated with the color blue, and the frequency 672 Hz, as well as the solfeggio frequency 741 Hz.
Please note that some believe that the frequencies will work differently depending on the individual and their size and personal distance between chakras, due to physical proportions. The best way to find what is best for you is to try and feel into the sensations you are experiencing while listening to music with these frequencies in it.
741 Hz (Sol) – Expression & Solutions
741 Hz is the solfeggio frequency that resonates with the throat chakra. When this chakra is open it enables us to communicate properly and it also gives the rest of your chakras a ‘voice.’ The 741 Hz solfeggio tone guides us to solutions and allows us to express ourselves. It also helps us to release toxins from our cells, and release negative emotions.
When listening to this frequency, you’ll find yourself with a renewed voice and ability to express yourself clearly and truthfully. Be aware of any new ways of thinking that become available to you, as well as any shifts in perspective.

Healing The Throat Chakra With Nature:

The element associated with the throat chakra is ether, or akasha in sanskrit. This is the element that makes all the other elements possible. Ether makes everything possible, as it is the space that everything is born out from. Ether is both nothing and everything at the same time. It is stillness, and yet it gives
birth to all movement, and movement is the foundation for all life.
Ether is the essence of emptiness, and this makes the space element the most subtle element. Within ourselves we can recognize this element where there is space. The silence behind all thoughts. The cavities in our body. The space in our lungs that fills up with air. The silence in our throat before we speak. The space in our stomach before we fill it with food.
In the belief system of the ancient Greeks, it was believed that ether is a God-like element, and a force that allowed humans in connecting with spirituality and intuition. In ancient yogi tradition ether is the element of potentiality and a representation of that which is unbound and all-pervasive.
In order to heal the throat chakra it is important to understand it first, this also includes understanding the element associated with this particular chakra, and knowing how to work with it. In the four lower chakras we work with elements that are easy to understand, as we can use our senses to perceive them. The element of space is a different story, as it exists in the realm of the unseen, unheard, and untouchable.
Everything in nature is matter, but it is also space. Go outside in a natural environment and work on shifting your awareness from the physical to the aspects of life that you cannot perceive with your senses.
Become aware of the space element by tuning into the qualities present in the space of nothingness within you. Within you this may be sensations such as warmth, coolness, heaviness, lightness, stillness or tingling of energy. After becoming aware of the subtle sensations within you, the space behind your thoughts, notice the subtle sensations outside of you. This may be the temperature of the air surrounding you, the subtle sounds in the background barely audible to the ear, the playfulness of light dancing around you.
The element of ether is what allows light to travel through space and manifest as matter. To connect with ether, is to connect with that which is behind all the perceivable. Soak in the energy of all that is surrounding you. Create space within you to just be present.
You may also work with the herb Sage as you connect with the element ether. Sage is a great herb to use in order to cleanse and remove stagnant energy. It is a plant that clears unwanted smells, bacterias and microbial and old energy from a room. It is also a great ally to purify our own energetic body. The best way to work with sage is through smudging. Light a stick of sage until there is smoke coming from it, then walk around in the space you want to clean. Visualize the energy becoming clean and clear. You may also do the same thing around your body.
Healing The Throat Chakra With Seed Mantra Or Vowel:

Humming, singing and chanting may be the most effective tools in order to restore this particular chakra back into balance, as it is the chakra for expressing yourself through sound.
In your humming or singing practice there are different vowels and seed mantras that you can use in order to restore balance to the throat. You can also listen to these vowels and seed mantras, but using the vibration of your own voice is definitely a more effective way. The vibration of your own voice infused with intention is a very powerful sound healing tool.
In the eastern part of the world the vibration of each chakras is associated with their Beeja or seed mantras. And in the west each chakra is associated with a vowel.
A seed mantra is a one-word mantra used to strengthen the energy system of the body. The seed syllable used for the throat chakra is HAM (Pronounced as HUM). The sound and frequency of HAM will assist in strengthening the energy of positive personal power and finding your own voice. The vedic mantra used for the throat chakra is “Om Ham Namaha”.
The vowel associated with the throat chakra is EYE.
The vowel sound EYE is connected to the vocal cords, thyroid, esophagus, tonsils and larynx. Chanting this vowel will assist in strengthening these areas in the body. To experience an internal sound bath try to hold and extend the sound (Y) as in (eye). Notice any internal sensations.
Conclusion
Each celestial body, in fact each and every atom, produces a particular sound on account of its movement, its rhythm or vibration. All these sounds and vibrations form a universal harmony in which
Pythagoras
each element, while having its own function and character, contributes to the whole.
Sound has the power to not only heal us on a physical level, but also on a spiritual and emotional level. This is because everything, including your mind, body and spirit is in a constant state of vibration, just as everything in life is in a constant state of vibration. Sound is a vibration which can penetrate every level of our intricate being.
The seven main energy centers in our bodies, also known as the chakras have their own frequency, and certain sound vibration has the power to restore balance to each and one of the chakras, bringing them back into a state of balance and harmony.
The throat chakra is especially sensitive to the impact of sound, as it is the chakra responsible for expressing sound. There are many different sounds techniques you can use to restore balance to your throat chakra, and again your overall health.
It is also important to note that every individual is unique, and not one technique, sound or modality works for everyone. The best way to figure out what works best for you or your client is to listen to the body and feel the changes invoked through sound. Do more of what works, and do less of what does not work.
