Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.Louise Erdrich, The Painted Drum
The Sanskrit word for the sacral chakra is Swadhisthana and can be translated to “the dwelling place of the self”. The color of the second chakra is orange and the element associated with the sacral chakra is water. The sacral chakra is located just below the naval and is focused on relationships with oneself as well as others. The second chakra regulates how you are emotionally responding to the world around you, and your ability to express and regulate emotional responses in a healthy way.
Physically it is closely connected with our reproductive organs and it governs your sexual drives and creative powers. Other body parts that relate to the sacral chakra are the lower gut, bladder, kidneys and circulatory system.
A healthy sacral chakra will make you feel that you are accepting the changes happening in your life, in an open and welcoming way. You understand that all changes entering your life are there for the sake of your growth and that change is a fundamental movement of life. You create your life with passion, drive and abundant creativity. You feel in touch with your sexual nature, and freely express it in a healthy way. This includes placing healthy boundaries for yourself.
